Permanent Residence

Foreigners who are already holders of a Residencia Definitiva permit may eventually require changes in the documentation issued to them. Therefore, there is a procedure that allows correcting names, surnames, RUN, gender and/or nationality in the resolution that grants the Residencia Definitiva.

When the Servicio Nacional de Migraciones (SERMIG) receives an Application for Residencia Definitiva permit from a foreigner, it may grant or reject the permit. In cases where the applied benefit has been rejected, the person will have the option of applying a reconsideration, which the legislation establishes for such purposes, accompanying new information to support his claim.

The Residencia Definitiva is the permit granted by the Servicio Nacional de Migraciones to foreigners who have a valid Residencia Temporal to reside indefinitely and engage in any lawful activity in the country.
