Regulations

Chile has signed several international agreements and conventions, which contain important legal frameworks or contents related to migration between the States parties. The main ones addressed in this section: Mercosur, Working Holiday, APEC, free trade agreements, and other social security or transit agreements.

There are different types of financial sanctions for those who commit any immigration infractions. This page lists the various infractions and their respective sanctions, which may consist of fines or warnings.

Documents of public domain that SERMIG has sent to other institutions or State services, for example to the Registro Civil, to communicate the validity of residency, changes in procedures, or other aspects related to immigration procedures.

Chilean legislation in force on immigration establishes rules to regulate the entry, stay, residence, and exit of foreigners from the country, the exercise of rights, duties, and an institutional framework to achieve these purposes.
